CHILD AID

Helping Children in Southern India

Here are some of our Street Children, yes all girls, who need your help.  We give you a little of their individual stories, but each and every one has a much bigger story to tell.  Living with Grandmother in the West is probably a child's dream, grandmother will spoil our children ... `rotten`, but in India it is very difficult, and often these children have no Grandparents and grandparent's often cannot support even themselves, so an extra mouth causes BIG problems and to survive many of these children have to beg to survive themselves - at their young age, is this right ?  Can we help these few who have been rescued, to start a really new life, changing their future for ever ?

ANANDHI : is 10, her mother suffered from continuous stomach ache and died. Father died later unable to bear loss of his wife ...

ISWARYA is 9 and is Anandhi's sister, they were both taken in by their grandmother, but she was old and could not look after them.

KARTHIKA : Both of her parents remarried someone else and simply left Karthika to fend for herself - she is 9 years old ! JEYA SHREE : is 9 years, her father  mur-  dered her mother, he was imprisoned, when released he could not look after her ! PAVITHRA : is only 7, her father was killed in an accident. Her mother simply could not educate all the children.
MAHALAKSHMI : is Pavithra's big sister, she is 15 and wants to be a police-woman, she is a clever girl and with our help ... ! KOKALI : is 15, her father died while seeking work, mother had to leave for a daily wage, grandmother to the rescue ... ! SHANTHI : she lost her parents when very young, village elders took pity on her and introduced her to the shelter ; she blossomed. MADHUNITHA : Is 6, can you believe that Mother killed herself ! Father worked in a big City, her Uncle simply couldn't take care of her ... nor her sister ! PIRIYADHARSHINI : is Madhunitha's sister, she is 11. Both she and her sister were in private school, which they would love to continue with ...
KALA : is an orphan, 13 years old grew up under care of grand-parents, grandmother died recently. Brought to shelter by social worker - clever girl. LAKSHMI : mother deserted her children when she got remarr-ied ; they were roam-ing a bus stand when they were seen and brought to the shelter. RATHNA : SELVI : SHENBAGAM :
PRIYA : is 10 years old and has no father, he mother married another man who had no interest in Priya, luckily she was brought to the shelter and is now looking forward to taking 5th std this year. GAYATHRI BHUVANESWARI : is 14 years old the `bigger` sister of Karthiga and Aiswaiya, so you know the story, she is studying 8th std and with her big sister Kanaga is moving to 9th Std this year. KARTHIGA : is 10 years old and is Aiswaiya's eleder sister. She was part of the story you can read under Aiswaiya's name.  She is now studying 5th std and is proving to be a clever little girl. AISWAIYA : is 6 years old, she is one of a family of four. Mother and Father died but owed the `rent`. All four children were put out to work to pay the debt ! But, fortunately someone found out !

These are just some of the girls we would like to help ; they have no close friends other than the Sisters who look after them and the other children.  All have been plucked from obscurity, truly, if the project had not been established these girls would still be wandering the streets - have a look at them, would you like to see any one go back to their past life ?
