CHILD AID

Helping Children in Southern India

This page tells you a little more about us

and how we work

How many times have you received requests from charities to help and asked yourself,  how much of my donation  is actually used for those in need ? Well, with CHILD AID, this is the answer to that question, `every penny, every cent`, not one penny or cent of your child sponsorship gift goes on our administration.

`How can this be, you ask ?` Well, very simply, CHILD AID is a new charity ( Registered in England & Wales, Registration No 1085796 ), formed by a small group of people who accidentally became involved in the problems many villages in rural Southern India experience.

Let me ask you a question,     wpe1.jpg (52657 bytes)  how could anyone resist this face ; his name is Selvaraj, he is one of my sponsored children. How did I meet him, well, it was by accident. Four years ago a friend, who had just formed his own charity in Ireland, asked if I would sponsor a child. I did, and thought nothing more of it, my friend convinced me in words, what I am now trying to say to you here.  Four years after my initial sponsorship, I asked my friend if I could visit the children I was sponsoring, he was surprised, but delighted, no sponsor had every asked this.

My wife and I visited India, with our friend, it was an experience we shall never forget. Returning, we decided to form CHILD AID UK to continue the good work in our country, our friend had started in his, with the hope that others, more fortunate than many of these children, might like to help us achieve our new found aim, will you be one of those ?

So what has CHILD AID been doing ?

Jointly we have over 1500 children in educational sponsorship

We have built, by western standards, a modest school and another on the way

We have built and fitted out a number of medical centres

We have helped to established a self-help farm for the aged

and have just funded, surprisingly for the first time ever in these rural areas, the building of fifty toilets in a village - this will help to keep this village much more hygenic - no, they didn't have toilets before !
